Happy Thanksgiving

I took a Copic Marker class at our local Stamp Store and this is what we did.  WOW, these makers blend so well!  I don't know who the stamp is made by as the image was already stamped for us before the class.  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving :-)

A Merry "Campbell" Christmas

The Nurse Practitioner that I work with just fell in love with the card I brought in with the Greeting Card Kids.  She said it reminded her of the Campbell Soup Kids.  She has a friend with the last name of Campbell and asked me to make a Christmas card to send her and this is what I came up with.
She is stamped onto watercolor paper and I water colored with paint brushes using SU Classic Ink.
I used some white Fun Flock on the trim of her coat and hat. Used Gold & Red Stickles on the Christmas Tree for some decoration.  Took the 2-Way Glue Pen and put dots all over to look like snow and covered them in Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  Added a little Poinsettia with a brad.

Thanks for stopping by,
Cindy :-)

Snowflake Christmas

A friend at work wanted me to create a card that she could easily reproduce as she needed to make 80 Christmas cards!  This is what I came up with.  Using the Northern Flurries embossing folder on Bashful Blue card stock and then applied some Whisper White Craft Ink with a sponge dauber over the snowflakes.  Then with another sponge dauber over the White Craft Ink I added some Frost White Shimmer paint for a little sparkle.  The edges of the Bashful Blue were sponged with Pacific Point.  The Large Designer Label was sponged with Whisper White and Frost White.  A rhinestone was added to the sentiment for some bling. The circles in the corners are stickers.  The best part, my friend has finished all her cards!

Thanks for stopping by,
Cindy :-)

Merry Christmas

The inspiration for this card started with the Christmas paper from Memory Box.  I embossed the paper with a Cuttle Bug Snowflake Embossing folder.  Then layered onto some American Crafts Foil Card Stock.  Some left over SU Ribbon from last year and some Stickles on the berries for some sparkle and a rhinestone on the star of the sentiment.  Very easy :-)

Elegant Soiree` Anniversary

One of the girls at work needed an Anniversary card and she asked me to make one for her.  I just received my Elegant Soiree` DSP and could not wait to use it!  The sentiment is not stamped, I saw it on an anniversary card in the store and decided to use my printer.  I thought the sentiment was fitting as they have been married for 27 years.  I used the Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon but was not happy that I could still see where the two papers came together so I just added the Victoria Crochet Trim over the top of it.
I used the striped pattern for the male shirt and brads for buttons and the other heart I lined up the dots just right so I could put some crystals on it to make it very feminine.  Cathy loved her card.  She said her husband usually does not pay much attention to the cards that she normally gives him, however, this one he put up on his dresser so he could see it!

Thanks for stopping by :-)

Spooky Halloween

I love to make Halloween cards and the new stamp sets were calling my name!  Greeting Card Kids & Wicked Cool.  The bats in Wicked Cool remind me of the Scooby Doo Cartoon, one of my favorites as a child.  I started with Whisper White Cardstock and stamped the girl with Black Stazon.  Next I watercolored the image (light on the water since this is Whisper White) with my SU Classic Inks.  I then took a Versamark Pen and colored over the image and then applied Clear Embossing powder and heated.  I punched out a 1 3/4" Circle and applied Dotto adhesive to the back and then brayered the whole card in Daffodil Delight.  Using sponge daubers I then sponged on the Wild Wasibi for the grass, Pumpkin Pie was next around the whole card, then Crushed Concord and some Early Espresso.  I removed the Moon mask and sponged the moon lightly with Daffodil Delight, to give it a little depth I sponged a little darker in some spots.  Then stamped the bats flying in the moon.  The Scallop Oval around my sentiment was punched then I put Dotto on a strip of paper and put the Oval back into the punch at different angles to get the jagged edges.  The Sentiment is done with Heat & Stick powder and Black Glitter.

Thanks for stopping by :-)

Bells & Boughs Sneak Peak!

Happy Sunday Everyone,

I received my "Holiday Mini" pre-order this week!  I can't wait until September 1st, you are gonna love this catalog.  The images are from the Stamp Set "Bells & Boughs."  The sentiment is very vintage looking so I thought I would continue with the vintage theme and distress everything.  The sentiment fit perfectly into the Scallop Oval Punch and layered onto the "New" Extra Large Decorative Label Punch.
The paper is also from the Mini called Deck the Halls.  I sponged Always Artichoke around the edges and then sprayed it with the Log Cabin Smooch Spritz, the Very Vanilla under it was also sponged with Always Artichoke.  Hard to photograph, but if you click on the photo you can see some shimmer on the Poinsettia's.  This look was achieved by mixing a drop of Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint with one drop of Real Red ink refill and then applied with a paint brush on Watercolor Paper.  The pine boughs look like I used some Chocolate Chip but I did not.  I painted an area too dark and so I added water to remove some of it with a paper towel and that is the result got.  That was easy :-)

Enjoy, stay cool and thanks for stopping by,
Cindy

Christmas Cards and Card Box

I can't wait to get my "Holiday Mini" pre-order from Stampin' Up!  OMG I think they out did themselves this year!!!  In the mean time I have been making cards to sell at work.  My co-workers are already bugging me for sets of cards.  I found this easy box to make on Paula's Blog "Inking Addict Designs".
This box will hold 6 cards with envelopes.  Trying to keep cards simple for easy mass production.  The Christmas tree looks like it has garland on it as I used the Two-way Glue Pen and Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  I used a piece of Sticky Strip on the Eyelet Border on the card box and then applied the Fine Galaxy Gold Glitter, what's Christmas without a little bling!  It is not visible in the photo but the Holiday Treasures DSP has been sprayed with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint.  My recipe, fine mist spray bottle, add shimmer paint (more for lots of sparkle or less, depends on your own taste) then add Rubbing Alcohol and shake well.  Then spray first to make sure you don't get globs then apply to paper.  I use Rubbing Alcohol as it drys faster and does not warp the paper.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week :-)

Birthday Shadow Box Card

I found this wonderful video tutorial at Julie Buhler's Blog - Paper Pleasing Ideas and just had to try it.
The best feature of this 3-D card is that you can fold it and put it in a regular size envelope!  A friend a work wanted a birthday card for her daughter who loves shades of purple.  So I used Almost Amethyst.

Holiday Peace

Here is another card I made using the To You & Yours stamp set.  The snowflake looks glittery because I used Whisper White and embossed it with Iridescent Ice EP and then used my Snowflake Punch.  Hard to photograph the glitter pen that I used on the Dove's tail, it looks better in real life!  Very easy card to make using only two colors.

Have a great weekend everyone,

Post-it Note Holder with Border!

Earlier this week I posted the Post-it Note Holders found HERE.  I changed the instructions just a bit to add the Eyelet Border.  The original length of the Cover 3 1/16" x 8 1/2".  I made mine 3 1/16" x 9".
I like this much better, very feminine.

Season of Joy Part 2

Just had to do another one because I still had some paper left :-)  This design is simple and easy to recreate for mass production.  Not sure who makes the Snowflake brad, I got a grab bag gift and these were inside. It's hard to see in the photo, but I used Versamark on it and then added Iridescent Ice embossing powder and set it with the Heat Tool.  I know everyone probably thinks I am nuts for starting already, but Christmas is only "5" months away!

Season of Joy with Glitter!

Yes, a little Christmas in July :-)  When it's hot, think cool and go stamp some Christmas cards!
The DSP is over 3 years old and I don't remember the name but it came from Stampin' Up!  I have a hard time parting with paper sometimes.  My other addiction, not being able to give up any of my Christmas stamps!!!  The Merry Christmas sentiment came from the 2007 Holiday Mini - Tags On Board.  It works perfectly with the oval & scallop oval punches.  The tree was stamped with Versamark and then added some Heat & Stick Powder heated with heat tool and then applied the Fine Cosmo Glitter Celery and reheated and Fine Galaxy Glitter Gold for the star.

Post-it Note Holders

I have been working on gifts for Christmas already.  I found the instructions for these at Crafts by Beth!
These will make a great gift for the Receptions that work on our floor.  I am also going to include the Pentel R.S.V.P. pen with matching DSP to go along with it.  These are so easy to make and they are soo cute!  The shimmer on the paper is from Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint, I love this paint :-)

I made this card before the new SU Idea Book and Catalog came out!  I did however know that
Baja Breeze would be returning so that was my color of choice and it looks great with Chocolate Chip.
I teamed those colors up with Crumb Cake and leftover Pariasian Breeze DSP (retired) and Chocolate Chip Polka Dot Satin Ribbon.

Bargello Top Note with Frayed Ribbon Flower

What is Bargello?  Bargello is a form of embroidery that is created through a series of upright flat stitches laid out in interesting patterns.  This technique was in the June 2010 Stampin' Success magazine and I just had to try it.  I cut strips of striped DSP (stripes work best) in varying widths, 1/8, 1/4 & 1/2 inches.  I used a piece Whisper White cardstock for the base cut at 5.5 x 4.25 inches.  Align colors into desired pattern and adhere to the cardstock and then I ran it through the Big Shot.
The ribbon is cut at 6 inches and then used linen thread and did a running stitch along one edge.  Once that was done I straightened out the ribbon and on the opposite side of the thread I sniped 1/8th inch clips down the ribbon.  Once that was done I pulled it together to form a circle and tied the thread and added the brad.  Very easy.

Thanks for stopping by :-)

Because I Care - Thank you!

I finally got a chance to break out this stamp set :-)  I was inspired by these photos that I found on Patty Bennett's Blog!  In order to get the color I wanted I broke out the Watercolor paper and watercolored with SU Classic Ink.  I started with Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink & Bashful Blue.  I then added some Pretty in Pink in the Bashful Blue to give it a little lavender color as in the photos.  Leaves were done in Wild Wasabi & Daffodil Delight.  The image looked a little flat to me so I added some White Gel Pen on the edges of the flowers, this gave it a little more depth.  It is hard to see in the photo, but I added a little bling to the flower with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint.  I already have it mixed in a mister with rubbing alcohol so I dipped my paint brush into it and then lightly applied to my flower.  I kept the card simple as I wanted the flower to be the main attraction.  If you click on the photo it will enlarge and you can see the shimmer.

Have a great week and thanks for stopping by,

Cheep Talk Thank You in Baja Breeze!

I finally got this stamp set.  I was hoping it would be Clear Mount when the new catalog came out but it was not, darn!  I am loving the Clear Mount stamp sets as they take up less room and.....I'm not killing a tree by using wood mount!  Baja Breeze is back and I am soo glad because it was one of my favorite In Colors.  I broke out some retired SU felt flowers and DSP Parisian Breeze to make this card.

Elements of Style with Thoughts & Prayers

A lady at work lost her brother-in -law and she asked me to make a Sympathy Card for her sister so I decided to use Elements of Style with the Thoughts & Prayers stamp set.  I wanted to use up some of my Almost Amethyst so I paired it with Elegant Eggplant.  I stamped the flowers with Stazon and then used a blender pen and Classic Ink to acheive the look I wanted.  I started with Pale Plum, then some Elegant Eggplant and a touch of Almost Amethyst to give it a slight blue tint.  The centers of the flowers were done in Barely Banana  The leaves and stems were done in Certainly Celery, Barely Banana and Garden Green.
I am really loving this stamp set, it has so many possibilities!

Masculine Birthday

Hello Everyone,
Here is the card I made for my Dad this year, his birthday was Saturday.
Using of scraps of retired SU DSP to make this card.  With the new book out, a lot is retired.  But that's okay, cause I love the new changes they have made with the color!!!
I found the directions for the Origami Shirt HERE only I used a 4" x 5.5" piece of paper so the shirt would fit on the card.  Very easy to make but practice on some copy paper first it's easier and you don't ruin your good paper.  I used my Mat Pack paper piercing template to align the holes for my brads.
My card was looking a bit boring so thought I would cut some slits in the paper and run some Soft Suede ribbon though them.  I find masculine cards to be a challenge but I do really like this one for once :-)

Thanks for stopping by,
Cindy

~Corner Bookmark~

I watched a tutorial on Splitcoaststampers the other day on how to make a Corner Bookmark.  When I watched her make the score lines in the video I thought the Sizzix Bigz Die "Petal Card" (retired) would work great and it would already be scored for me!  I needed a quick going away gift for a girl at work and this is what I made for her.  I used Certainly Celery textured cardstock to make the main frame of the bookmark 4"x4".  Lined up the tip of the 4x4 cardstock onto the tip of the Petal Card die so it only covered two of the score lines that I needed.  I used some Razzleberry Lemonade DSP cut at 2.5"x2.5" and adheard to the center before adhering the petals together.  The flower is made with Vellum Cardstock with the 5-Petal Flower Punch (3) then added the Flower Brad.  Next I cut a 3"x 3" square of So Saffron using the Scallop Corner and Border Punch.  Punch corner first then finish with the border.  I wanted to add this backing so I could adhere the ribbon to the back with Sticky Strip and not be showing!  I then used the Butterfly stamp from the Great Friend stamp set.  Using smooth Certainly Celery cardstock, I stamped 2 butterflies with Versamark and then used Iridescent Ice Embossing powder and cut them out.  I then added a yellow brad to both for a little weight and sandwiched them together with the ribbon with Sticky Strip.
This was fun and easy to make!

Everyone have a fun and safe 4th of July, celebrate your freedom and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we can live free!

~Dad's Day~

Hello Everyone,

Just trying to use up some DSP before the new catalog comes out!!!
This DSP is SU's "To The Nines"
I had some chipboard letters that matched the paper so I thought I would use them.
I made some score lines on the top portion of the card but hard to see in photo.
The large star looked a little plain so I added a button with some Linen Thread.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend and thanks for taking the time
to stop by my blog!

Lovely as a Tree "Father's Day Card"

The "Lovely as a Tree" stamp set is so versatile and this giant oak reminds me of a strong man.
Masculine cards are always a challenge but I really like this rustic look.  The Log Cabin Smooch helped to achieve this look with just a hint of shimmer!  I used the "Thumping Technique" on the top of the tree.  Stamped entire tree in Certainly Celery and removed the ink from the trunk with a Blender Pen.  Used Soft Suede for the trunk, then with my markers I thumped the top of the tree with Summer Sun, Old Olive and Soft Suede.

"Thank You"

Hello Everyone,

What a beautiful Saturday!  Hard to believe it was 60 degrees in Central Illinois yesterday.
This was an easy card to make, the stamp is from Hero Arts Clings.  I have been wanting to try Copic Markers so I thought I would use them on this card.  Takes a bit of getting use to but I like my results.  I need to learn how to blend better.  The best part is when I cut out the stamped image and it fit perfectly onto the Top Note Die.  I also embossed it with the dots and sponged around the edges.  Added some Stickles and Rhinestones for a little bling.

Stamp:  Thank You - Hero Arts Cling
Paper:  Whisper White, Pale Plum, Barely Banana
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black (works best with Copic Markers), Assorted Copic Markers, Barely Banana Sponged on the Top Note
Accessories:  Top Note Die, Stickles, Rhinestones

"Mother's Day"

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to use some colors that I do not normally use.  Sometimes I just get stuck on the same ones!
This is the card I made for my Mom, she loved it :-)  Base of the card is Barely Banana with Baroque Motifs stamped in Barely Banana.  I used Whisper White and Vellum and ran it through the Big Shot.  Did the masking technique on the flowers.  I used Basic Gray instead of Black, I did not like the harshness of the black when I tried it.

Stamps:  Well Scripted, Greenhouse Garden, Baroque Motifs
Paper:  Whisper White, Barely Banana, Vellum
Ink:  Barely Banana, Yo Yo Yellow, Pixie Pink, Rose Red, Basic Gray
Accessories:  Silver Brads, Top Note Die, Scallop Circle Punch, Dimensionals

Thanks for stopping by, hope everyone is having a great weekend :-)

~Quick Birthday Card~

Hello Everyone!

Needed a quick Birthday card and this is what I came up with.  I had some Memory Box paper from their "Gossamer" collection and trimmed the patterned paper to fit.  I added some brown gingham ribbon and decided it needed something so I added the scallop border.  A card would not be a card without some bling so I applied some "Fruit Punch" Stickles to the flowers.  Sentiment is SU from the "Well Scripted" Set.

Groovy Guava Birthday

Here is yet another birthday card using up some old "In Colors" and DSP!  The Stamp set is retired SU "Live Your Dream".  Sometimes there are just some sets that you just can't part with and this is one of my favorites!  I also used Teeny Tiny Words stamp set for the Happy Birthday.  I used several punches on this card, Ticket Corner, Word Window, Modern Label and a non SU Scallop Border.  Inks used are Groovy Guava, Close to Cocoa, Certainly Celery and Old Olive.  I added some stickers for a little bling!

Hope everyone has a great week and thanks for stopping by :-)

Masculine Birthday

Masculine cards are always a challenge.  I had some left over design paper (unknown) and went with those colors.  I also have been trying to use up some old "In Color" paper and ink.  The card base is Blue Bayou and for added interest I added some Sahara Sand cardstock for layering.  The b is for birthday (SU Party Hearty Stamp Set)  is stamped in Blue Bayou, stamped again onto Sahara Sand with Versamark and used Clear embossing powder and used a circle punch to cut it out and then used a dimensional to pop it up.  This creation went to my father-in-law for his birthday last week!

Have a great weekend everyone and thanks for stopping by :-)

Celebrate!

I am trying to use up as much scrap paper as I can. I hate to see paper go to waste. The DSP is SU's Autumn Vine on Baja Breeze cardstock. Image is stamped onto watercolor paper with black Stazon and then used SU Classic Inks with the Shimmer paint on the frosting. I did several layers to give it some depth, corner rounder and scallop edge punch for added interest and chocolate chip ribbon. It still looked like it needed something so I added some faux stitching.

Kindness

Did a case from Stampin' Success magazine, I just changed it up a little bit as I did not have the new stamp set from the Occasions Mini - I (Heart) Hearts.  Used the heart from the Love You Much set and punches to recreate the case.  Using Boho Backgrounds & Itty Bitty Backgounds on the hearts with Clear embossing powder.  I really like this color combo on the Whisper White, it really makes the colors pop!

Enjoy Your Day

As promised, here is the start of the Birhday collection.  Using up some of my Pink Pirouette cardstock and ink.  Some Razzleberry Lemonade DSP, Barely Banana cardstock, Mellon Mambo cardstock and ribbon.  Round Scallop and Border Punches.  A little dimension with the Build-A-Brad, Buttons and a White Gel Pen to make a dot border.  Stamps are SU Together Forever and Riveting (retired).  I have a hard time letting go of stamps with sayings, you can never have enough!
